Empress Wu' Guardians

Wu Zetian, referred to as the Sacred and Divine Empress Regnant, founded the Zhou dynasty after mounting the heavenly throne in the 8th Century. She is remembered for placing Buddhism over Daoism as the religion of state and as patroness of the arts, she commissioned many sculptures for Buddhist temples and caves. Sanbao Ceramic Art Institute Jingdezhen, China

I developed paper clay to build my 2&3D sculptural impressions.
The paper clay Wind Horses, Fei Ma, carry Chinese character messages as they move in the air. Impressed plates were embossed with symbols representing the three treasures of Sanbao; Bamboo, Tea and the water hammer.
