Artist's statement

I am enthused by the plasticity of clay, its universality, and its potential as a vehicle for narrative of personal and shared mythologies. Created from earth and water, fused and coloured by alchemic processes. It is forged into ceramic by fire and is a wonderfull material for producing expressive works. I am also passionate about horses, their interaction with humans and the environment and how their spirit crosses cultural divides. Working with clay I develop ideas through the ceramic processes with addition of decorative symbols that encourage reflection on cultural journeys taken and stories told.
